Legal Guarantee & Repairs
Stylyne garments are made with care in small quantities. This page explains your legal rights if a product is faulty or does not correspond to what you ordered, as well as the repair services we may be able to offer for other types of damage.
Your legal guarantee
Consumers in the European Union benefit from a minimum two-year legal guarantee beginning on the date the product is delivered.
The legal guarantee applies when a product does not conform to the contract—for example, because it is faulty, does not correspond to its description or does not have the quality and performance that can reasonably be expected from a product of its type.
The two-year period does not mean that every form of wear or damage arising during that period is automatically considered a defect.
What may be covered
Depending on the circumstances, a valid claim may include:
- seams, stitching or hems coming undone because of a production fault;
- an elastic waistband breaking or losing tension unusually early because of faulty material or construction;
- pleats losing their form despite the garment being used and cared for correctly;
- receiving a product, size or specification different from the one ordered;
- another material or manufacturing defect that was present when the garment was delivered, even if it became apparent later.
Every request is assessed individually based on the nature of the garment, the reported problem and how the garment has been used and cared for.
What is not normally a product defect
The legal guarantee does not normally cover:
- ordinary wear and tear resulting from normal use;
- gradual fading, abrasion or other natural changes associated with wear;
- stains, snags, cuts, burns, tears or other accidental damage;
- damage caused by machine washing, tumble drying, excessive heat, harsh chemicals or care contrary to the instructions supplied with the garment;
- damage caused by misuse or inappropriate storage;
- damage caused by an alteration or repair carried out by another person;
- changes in fit resulting from a change in the wearer’s measurements;
- a change of mind after the applicable return period.
This list does not restrict any rights that the customer has under applicable consumer law.
How to report a problem
Please email us with:
- your order number;
- a description of the problem and when you first noticed it;
- photographs of the affected area, where reasonably possible.
Please do not send the garment before receiving our return instructions. We may need to inspect it in our Sofia atelier before confirming the appropriate solution.
Photographs help us understand the problem, but they do not prevent us from considering a claim when photographs cannot reasonably establish its cause.
Available solutions
If the garment has a valid lack of conformity, Stylyne will provide an appropriate solution without charging for the necessary postage, labour or materials.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
- repairing the garment;
- replacing it, where replacement is possible;
- reducing the price; or
- providing a refund where the applicable legal conditions are met.
Repair or replacement will normally be considered first where it is possible, proportionate and can be completed within a reasonable time without significant inconvenience.
Other repairs and adjustments
Damage caused by wear, an accident or improper care is not normally covered by the legal guarantee. However, we would still like to help you enjoy your Stylyne piece for as long as possible.
Where technically possible, we may be able to offer a paid repair, pleat restoration or fit adjustment. We will explain the available option and any associated costs before beginning the work.
