our fabrics

Stylyne skirts are built on a foundation of high-quality polyester fabric, because it simply holds pleats and color like no other. Unlike natural fibers (cotton, linen, silk) that tend to relax and lose their creases, polyester can be heat-set to lock in sharp, permanent pleats

Gabardine

Medium-weight, structured polyester twill that gives a beautiful drape with substance. You’ll notice the fine diagonal weave (visible only up close) that creates a smooth matte finish.

We love gabardine for its vivid, true-to-life print quality, yielding vibrant colors that remain beautifully matte (no unwanted shine).

The fabric has a soft hand despite its heft, so it’s comfortable against the skin and works across seasons. It holds pleats with crisp definition, giving skirts a refined shape that flatters.

Organza

When our designs demand dramatic volume or layering, we use Organza. It is a sheer, almost transparent textile woven from tightly twisted polyester fibers, which gives it a stiff, crisp drape.

We often use organza in pleated overlays or peeking out as ruffles, where its airy transparency adds visual depth without heaviness. The fabric has a delicate matte sheen that means the pleats almost shimmer.

Organza is breathable due to the fine holes in its plain weave, so even with multiple layers it stays light

Satin Twill

For a touch of sheen and a lighter, swishier feel, we turn to our Satin Twill. This fabric has a gentle twill texture, giving it a soft lustrous surface and beautiful fluid drape.

Compared to gabardine, satin twill is smoother and silkier to the touch, with a subtle shine that catches the light - perfect for when you want your skirt to make a statement in the sunshine.

It’s lightweight and airy, which makes it ideal for warmer weather and resort-ready looks. The prints on satin twill have a slightly more radiant finish; colors appear rich and have a soft glow thanks to the fabric’s sheen.

Silky Velvet

This is a rich polyester velvet with a short, ultra-soft pile that feels indulgent. The beauty of velvet lies in its directional nap, the tiny fibers that can appear lighter or darker from different angles, creating an almost lit-from-within depth of color and texture.

In our skirts, this means each fold of velvet catches light uniquely, resulting in a dynamic, tonal effect as you move. It’s a contemporary twist on pleating: the classic geometry of pleats with the texture of velvet results in a skirt that’s bold and playful.

The velvet we use has a subtle sheen (not overly glossy, just a mellow luster) that elevates prints and solid colors with a velvety glow. Despite its richness, our polyester velvet is fairly resilient, it doesn’t crush or wrinkle as easily as traditional silk velvet.

Faux Leather

This material has the sleek look of leather but is 100% vegan, consisting of a polyurethane face with a soft polyester backing.

This backing is key: it makes the faux leather more pliable and comfortable, so our skirts can drape and fold without feeling stiff. The inside of the fabric is a smooth knit that’s soft against the skin, while the outer coating gives you that cool leather-like finish.

The faux leather takes pleating incredibly well, for a textural contrast between the glossy, solid surface and the geometric pleat lines. Design benefits aside (cruelty-free, lighter weight than real leather, available in fun colors), we’re transparent about faux leather’s quirks, where it isn’t as breathable as woven fabric, so on hot days it may feel warm.

We recommend treating it with care: don’t store it in extreme heat, avoid sharp folds, and it will stay gorgeous.
