PLEAT REPAIRS

A second life for pleats worth keeping.

A favourite pleated piece should not disappear to the back of the wardrobe simply because it has lost its shape.

In our family atelier in Sofia, we assess and restore pleated garments with the same specialist knowledge, trained hands and machinery we use to create Stylyne pieces.

Start with photographs. Please do not send your garment until we have reviewed your request and confirmed the next step.

Assessment first

We examine photographs, fabric and construction before you send anything.

Restored in Sofia

Approved repairs are completed personally in our family atelier.

Stylyne and selected other brands

We assess Stylyne pieces and garments from other makers when lasting restoration appears realistic.

Honest answers

Not every fabric or type of damage can be restored. We will always tell you openly what may be possible.

PLEAT RESTORATION

When pleats lose their shape

Washing, tumble drying, steam, heat, storage and years of wear can all soften or deform pleats. Sometimes the damage is reversible. In other cases, the fabric has changed too much to restore safely.

We can assess pleats that have:

  • softened or lost their definition
  • become flattened or misshapen
  • been damaged by washing, tumble drying, ironing or steam
  • changed during delivery or storage
  • special, designer or sentimental value

The result depends on the fibre, construction, previous treatment and condition of the garment. Photographs help us make an initial assessment, but final feasibility may sometimes be confirmed only after we inspect the garment in person.

THE JOURNEY

Four considered steps

  1. Tell us what happened

Email us with the brand, the material if you know it, and a short description of what happened to the pleats.

  2. Show us the garment

Attach clear photographs of the full piece, the affected areas, and the care and composition label.

  3. Receive an honest assessment

We will explain what appears realistic, the likely treatment, and the estimated price and timing. If you wish to proceed, we will provide shipping instructions.

  4. Restoration and return

Once we have inspected and approved the garment in person, we restore it in Sofia, complete a final inspection and return it to you.

A REAL RESTORATION

Inside the restoration of an eight-year-old Armani skirt

This eight-year-old Armani Exchange skirt arrived with softened pleats, damage from a dog and the visible history of being loved and worn. Its owner could not imagine letting it go.

Nadya and her mother examined how it had been constructed, measured every pleat down to the millimetre and selected the correct mould. They rebuilt its shape, prepared it for pressing, set the pleats with heat and inspected the result by hand.

There is no machine that can replace the trained hands and intuition behind this work.

The skirt left the atelier ready for more years of wear and, hopefully, no more dog bites.

Every restoration is different. This film shows one real result, not a promise that every type of damage can be reversed.

THE DETAILS

A few clear answers about suitability, cost and timing.

Do you repair garments from other brands?

Yes. We restore Stylyne pieces and assess selected pleated garments from other makers. The fabric, construction and condition must be suitable for our process, so we always begin with photographs.
